Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

CleanSlate is operated by Ali Dincer ("CleanSlate," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, and handled when you use CleanSlate.

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your information, contact us at support@cleanslatestart.app.

1. Information you provide

CleanSlate requires an account to use its private recovery features.

Depending on how you use CleanSlate, you may provide information including:

  • your email address and account information;
  • an optional nickname;
  • optional birth year and gender identity information;
  • country, language, and preferred currency;
  • optional information about the kinds of gambling relevant to you;
  • optional information about what you would like help with;
  • your recovery start date and related progress information;
  • Reasons you choose to save;
  • notes;
  • Trigger Journal entries;
  • mood check-ins;
  • urge-related records;
  • restart history and Past Starts;
  • daily gambling-cost information if you choose to provide it;
  • information you choose to post or share through Community features; and
  • information you choose to send when using the AI Coach.

Most profile and recovery questions are optional unless the app clearly states otherwise.

2. Account and authentication information

CleanSlate uses account authentication so your account-backed recovery information can remain associated with your account across sessions and supported devices.

Authentication and account infrastructure are provided using third-party service providers, including Supabase.

We use account information to authenticate you, maintain your account, associate your private recovery information with the correct account, and provide the features you request.

3. Recovery information

CleanSlate may store account-backed recovery information such as Reasons, notes, Trigger Journal entries, mood check-ins, urge records, recovery start information, Past Starts, and certain setup and Personalization information.

This information is used to provide features such as your recovery counter, Journey, patterns and insights, saved Reasons and notes, and other personalized app functionality.

CleanSlate is designed so that private account-backed recovery records are associated with the account that created them.

4. Information stored on your device

Some preferences or features intentionally remain on the device or browser you use rather than being stored with your account.

For example, savings goals, the setting that hides money amounts, and similar device-specific preferences are stored locally.

Clearing browser or device data, changing devices, or removing the app may remove information that is stored only on that device.

CleanSlate keeps an account-specific device copy while saving recovery changes. If a connection is interrupted or another device has changed the account, unconfirmed copies remain available to download after reloading. They are not merged automatically. Copies from earlier visits remain until you remove them in the app or clear device storage.

5. AI Coach

CleanSlate includes an optional AI Coach.

Information is sent to the AI Coach only when you choose to use that feature and send a message. To generate a reply, your message and your recent AI Coach conversation are sent to an external AI provider. Your profile, setup answers, journal entries, check-ins, and other recovery records are not automatically included.

Your AI Coach messages and replies are saved to your account so you can see your history, and you can delete the conversation from the AI Coach page.

The AI Coach is intended to provide general informational and supportive conversation. It is not a doctor, therapist, emergency service, financial adviser, or substitute for professional care.

AI-generated responses may be inaccurate or incomplete.

6. Community

If you use Community features, information you intentionally post there, including the display name you choose, is visible to other signed-in CleanSlate members.

Do not include private recovery information in a Community post unless you are comfortable sharing it with that audience.

Private account information and private recovery records are not made public merely because you have a CleanSlate account.

Community posts may be reviewed before they are published, and Community content may be moderated or removed for safety. Certain profanity in Community posts and comments may be automatically masked.

7. How we use information

We may use information to:

  • provide and operate CleanSlate;
  • authenticate accounts;
  • save and restore account-backed information;
  • personalize app functionality based on choices you make;
  • calculate recovery progress and milestones;
  • provide journals, insights, Reasons, notes, and related recovery tools;
  • provide Community functionality;
  • provide the AI Coach when you choose to use it;
  • maintain safety, security, and reliability;
  • diagnose errors and technical problems;
  • prevent misuse or abuse; and
  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use recovery information to make medical diagnoses.

CleanSlate uses limited product-usage analytics to understand how the service is used and to improve it. This analytics is configured without session recording, without automatic capture of everything you click or type, and without building individual person profiles, and it is not intended to collect the text of your recovery entries.

8. Service providers

CleanSlate relies on service providers to operate parts of the service.

These include providers for:

  • hosting and application infrastructure;
  • database and authentication services, including Supabase;
  • AI functionality when you choose to use the AI Coach;
  • domain, email, and technical infrastructure; and
  • other operational services necessary to provide CleanSlate.

These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services to CleanSlate.

9. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

Information may be disclosed to service providers as necessary to operate CleanSlate, when you intentionally share information through a Community feature, when required by law or valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, and the integrity of the service.

Authorized CleanSlate administrators can access limited account and service information needed to operate the service: email address, join date, Community nickname, recent activity (such as the last day the app was used), country, and language. Administrators do not have an in-app view of your Reasons, notes, Trigger Journal entries, or AI Coach conversations.

10. Data retention

We retain account information and account-backed recovery information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain the account, satisfy legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the service.

Device-only information may remain until it is removed through the app, browser/device storage is cleared, or the app is removed, depending on how that information is stored.

Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and operational or legal requirements.

11. Your choices and data

CleanSlate provides tools that allow you to review, edit, or download certain information associated with your account. For example, you can change your optional answers in Personalization, edit or remove many of your entries, and use "Download my data" on the "Your data in CleanSlate" page.

For privacy questions or requests that cannot be completed through the app, contact support@cleanslatestart.app.

Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional rights regarding your personal information.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

12. Account deletion

You can permanently delete your CleanSlate account yourself from the Account window in the app by choosing "Delete account" and typing DELETE to confirm. This cannot be undone.

Deleting your account removes your sign-in account and your account-backed recovery data, including your profile, setup and Personalization answers, tracker and past starts, Reasons, notes, Trigger Journal entries, check-ins and urge records, AI Coach messages, and your Community reactions and reports.

Community posts and comments you wrote are deleted, along with your reactions, reports, and block list. Replies to your posts are also removed.

After deletion, the app also clears that account's copy of your data and your sign-in from the device you used. Copies on other devices you used are cleared when you clear that browser's or device's data.

If you cannot use the in-app option, or deletion does not complete, contact support@cleanslatestart.app.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the service and information processed through it.

However, no online service, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

14. Children

CleanSlate is not intended for children under 13.

If we learn that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected in circumstances where parental consent or another lawful basis was required, we may take steps to delete it.

If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact support@cleanslatestart.app.

15. International use

CleanSlate may be accessed from the United States, Canada, Türkiye, and other locations where the service is available.

Information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live, including locations where CleanSlate's service providers operate.

Privacy laws may differ between jurisdictions.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy is intended to limit rights that cannot legally be waived under applicable law.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as CleanSlate changes or as legal, technical, or operational requirements evolve.

When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date.

For material changes, we may provide additional notice when appropriate.
